ESG Reporting Specialist

BioFirst Group is an international player in biological crop protection and pollination. We offer a complete range of IPM (Integrated Pest Management) solutions, including beneficial insects, predatory mites, bumblebees, nematodes, biopesticides, biostimulants, biofertilizers, and inoculants, as well as advanced monitoring and scouting solutions. BioFirst Group has 32 production and/or distribution sites and employs 2800 people worldwide. Additionally, the group has an extensive network of specialized distributors in another 50 countries, with weekly exports to more than 70 countries. BioFirst Group serves the horticultural and agricultural market with four major brands: Biobest, BioWorks, Plant Products, and Biotrop.

Growth was achieved through both organic growth and acquisitions, with a budgeted turnover of more than €500 million in 2024. BioFirst is supported by, among others, two Belgian holdings and several private equity funds.

At BioFirst Group, sustainability is our core activity and one of our core values. To further support our ESG organization, we are currently looking for an ESG Reporting Specialist.

Your Goal

As an ESG Reporting Specialist, you will report directly to the BioFirst sustainability manager and align and coordinate the reporting of ESG data within BioFirst Group to:

  • Comply with the EU CSRD and other international ESG reporting standards
  • Collect relevant non-financial data for reporting purposes and investment plans
  • Perform audits on ESG data: identify discrepancies and formulate recommendations for improvement
  • Align reports and obtain additional data to help locations comply with local environmental and social legislation
  • Provide up-to-date and significant management information that enables (local) management to:
    • Track their performance against our ambitious ESG targets
    • Identify new opportunities to further improve the environmental impact of our operations
    • Identify new opportunities to improve the environmental impact of our products
    • Define the greatest opportunities in waste reduction and strive for a fully circular business model
    • Promote increased well-being, satisfaction, and productivity
    • Communicate and improve local community projects

Your Daily Responsibilities

  • Prepare reports, align reporting requirements, and align ESG reporting with current international reporting standards
  • Coordinate with internal departments at group or local level to streamline reporting processes
  • Collaborate with partners in the supply chain to collect relevant ESG data from our partners
  • Make recommendations and develop tools and services for continuous improvements to enhance sustainability programs
  • Analyze stakeholder information for internal and external reporting
  • Assist in the preparation and setup of ESG investments and initiatives
  • Assist in collecting input and writing sections for our sustainability report
  • Help create global awareness among all stakeholders that decisions need to be sustainability-driven to be future-proof

Who Are We Looking For?

  • An analytical thinker with a master's degree in finance, accounting, or a sustainability-related field
  • Enthusiastic about working in biological crop protection but with a greater passion for controlling, data analysis, and reporting
  • At least 5 years of experience with (ESG) data analysis, controlling, and reporting: you know how to link ESG data to financial reporting requirements
  • Familiar with at least one of the international sustainability reporting standards (e.g., CSRD, CSDDD, carbon accounting, SBTi, Ecovadis, TNFD)
  • Ability to conduct a Life Cycle Analysis
  • A goal-oriented self-starter, passionate about driving continuous improvement
  • Fluent in English, both spoken and written. Other languages are a plus (Dutch, French, Portuguese,...)
  • Willingness to visit other locations if necessary—though we try to minimize long-distance travel
