Belgian minister impressed by Biotrop's role in sustainable agriculture during visit to Brazil

Belgian Federal Minister for Mobility, Climate and Environmental Transition Jean-Luc Crucke visited Biotrop as part of the diplomatic mission to COP30. The minister and his delegation met with the local leadership team to learn how Biotrop’s biological innovations and strong field expertise support more sustainable and resilient farming systems across Brazil.

Showcasing innovation and field impact in Brazil

The visit offered an opportunity to present recent advances in biopesticides, biostimulants and biofertilizers, together with the practical field work that helps growers adopt these solutions at scale. Brazil remains one of the most dynamic agricultural markets in the world and continues to play a central role in the development and adoption of biological technologies.

Brazil as an example for biological innovation

Brazil continues to lead the way in streamlining regulatory pathways and market adoption of biological solutions. This environment accelerates progress in biocontrol, biostimulants and biorational crop protection, all of which play an important role in helping growers strengthen sustainability and productivity.

The visit underlined how Brazil’s momentum aligns with the BioFirst Group strategy, particularly as Biotrop prepares for its future expansion into Europe. Demand for effective, science-based and sustainable solutions is increasing and makes this step a natural evolution.

“Our mission is to help growers succeed with solutions that strengthen both productivity and sustainability. Sharing this with the Belgian delegation was a proud moment for our team and reflects the potential of biological technologies far beyond Brazil.” - Jonas Hipolito, President of Biotrop

Driving regulatory progress across regions

Within the BioFirst Group, supporting regulatory progress for biological solutions is a strategic priority. The work of Karel Bolckmans, Chief Strategy & Transformation Officer and President of IBMA, contributes to ongoing discussions with policymakers to help accelerate EU approval processes, providing European farmers with much faster access to effective sustainable alternatives.

A milestone in Belgium–Brazil cooperation

The visit marks an important moment in cooperation between Belgium and Brazil on sustainability and agricultural innovation. It shows the value of international dialogue and shared expertise in advancing environmentally responsible farming systems.
